Caring for your Piano
It is possible for a piano to last many years. In fact, there are many
instruments still in regular use dating from the early 1900's. Following
these simple steps will mean that you can expect many years reliable performance
from your piano.
- Place your piano in an environment where the temperature is as constant as
possible.
- Keep as far as possible from radiators or south-facing windows
- Try to keep room temperature at around 18 degrees centigrade.
- If the piano is to be kept in a warm room, the use of a humidifier is highly
recommended.
- Avoid keeping plants or other items on top of the piano where they could leak liquid in to the
mechanism. This can have disastrous results.
- Have the piano regularly tuned and maintained (6 monthly tunings are
recommended).
